ARPL: Rayon Sports face Musanze in match day 8 tie

After playing out a 1-all draw against Burundi’s Lydia Ludic Académic in first leg of preliminary round of CAF Champions, Olivier Karekezi’s Rayon Sports will be seeking a win against Musanze at Kigali Stadium today.

The Rayon Sports tie against Musanze Fc is a match day 8 fixture of the Azam Rwanda Premier League which was not played as scheduled late last year.

Rayon Sports are fourth on the league table with 15 points, five behind leaders SC Kiyovu, while Sosthène ‘Lumumba’ Habimana’s team (Musanze) are third from bottom with nine points.

Rayon Sports will need to win the game against Musanze to boost their morale ahead of the CAF return leg against Burundi’s Lydia Ludic Académic, which will be staged next week on Wednesday.

“It is a game we must win in order to boost our confidence ahead of the second leg against Lydia Ludic Académic,” Karekezi said.

However, Habimana believes that they have all it takes to win against Rayon Sports. “We know we are facing a big team, but we have prepared well to get points against them,” he said.

Rayon Sports will be without Abdul Rwatubyaye, Yussuf Habimana and Jean D’Amour Ndayisenga who are nursing injuries, while Musanze will miss services of striker, Wai Yeka who is on suspension, Obed Imurora who has three yellow cards and Yussuf Munyakazi who is down with malaria.

Action will continue on Saturday with AS Kigali facing Kirehe at Kigali Stadium, Musanze will play Gicumbi at Ubworoherane Stadium; Marines face Police at Umuganda Stadium while Amagaju will meet Espoir at Nyagisenyi.
