The pitch at the Rwanda U20 Women’s National Team camp has been alive with the sound of determination. From 3rd to 9th August 2025, the nation’s brightest young talents have been trading holiday rest for sweat, drills, and discipline, all with one target in mind, Nigeria.
These seven days were no ordinary training sessions. Under the watchful eye of Head Coach Casa Mbungo André, the players pushed through morning fitness circuits, tactical rehearsals, and match simulations, determined to carry Rwanda’s flag high on the global stage.
For Coach Mbungo, the camp was more than preparation, it was a statement.
“Nigeria is a strong team on the international level,” he said. “Keeping our girls in form during these holidays is crucial. There’s a long stretch between now and the matches, and we cannot afford to lose momentum. I’m grateful to FERWAFA and the Ministry of Sports for giving these players the environment they deserve.”
The training ground was filled not just with running feet, but with renewed bonds. Team captain Chance spoke with the conviction of a leader ready for battle:
“Meeting again as a team feels special. Camps like this boost our readiness, sharpen our unity, and keep us in fighting shape. To compete internationally, we must live and breathe the game and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
The stakes couldn’t be higher. Rwanda will host Nigeria for the first leg between 19 and 21 September 2025, before traveling for the second leg scheduled between 26 and 28 September. Two matches to decide who steps closer to the dream, a place at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Until then, the Young Wasps will keep their stingers sharp, their eyes on the prize, and their hearts set on making history.
