On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the two-day FIFA Women’s Strategy Workshop aimed at developing and strengthening the strategy for women’s football development in Rwanda officially came to an end at the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility.
The workshop brought together FIFA experts, women’s club administrators, coaches, players, media representatives, fans, and members of the FERWAFA Women’s Football Development Commission to discuss long-term strategic priorities for the growth of women’s football in Rwanda.
On the closing day, Certified FIFA Guardian Jules KARANGWA joined the workshop to deliver key lessons on safeguarding.
“Building a safer game for every player must remain a top priority, and it’s important to have stronger safeguarding measures to protect players and create a secure environment for women’s football to thrive” said Jules KARANGWA
As part of the closing activities, a friendly tournament was organized featuring five teams: Women Clubs Administrators, Women Clubs Captains, Coaches, Media/Fans, and Members of the FERWAFA Women’s Football Development Commission.
The tournament aimed to strengthen collaboration and highlight the role of every stakeholder in advancing women’s football in Rwanda. The Media/Fans Team emerged as the winners and lifted the trophy after an impressive performance throughout the matches.
During the closing remarks, participants were reminded by FERWAFA 2nd Vice President Richard MUGISHA that the success of women’s football development requires collective responsibility, strong partnerships, and a shared vision to achieve Rwanda’s ambitions on the continental and global stage.
