FERWAFA launches FIFA Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches’ Workshop


The Rwanda Football federation (FERWAFA) has kicked off another major step in its ongoing drive to strengthen football development across the country, launching the FIFA Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches’ Workshop on Monday, May 18 at FERWAFA Accommodation Facility in Remera, Kigali City.


The workshop which will climax on May 22 was officially opened by FERWAFA’s 2nd Vice President in charge of Technical Matters & Development Mr. Richard Mugisha.

The Vice President Mugisha encouraged participants to fully benefit from the expertise shared by FIFA facilitators to support football growth in Rwanda and advance their own coaching careers.


The workshop is part of a series of specialized programs organized by FIFA in partnership with its Member Associations. The initiative aims to enhance the technical and tactical skills of youth goalkeeper coaches while addressing the evolving demands of the modern game. 


The course also focuses on building local coaching capacity, improving player 

The program led by FIFA expert Callum Irving in company of five other experts, including 3 coaching instructors, 2 goalkeeper specialists, one fitness expert and a course coordinator, will provide participants with advanced training on modern goalkeeping techniques and coaching methods.


A total of 24 coaches and 21 goalkeeper coaches are taking part in intensive sessions focused on modern youth development, goalkeeping methodology, fitness, and performance improvement aligned with global football standards.


Participants were selected based on the quality and performance they have demonstrated in youth football development. Through both theory and practical sessions, the course aims to strengthen technical capacity, improve coaching standards, and equip Rwandan coaches with up-to-date international knowledge that will help shape the next generation of football talent in the country.
