The Rwanda National Football Team, Amavubi, is poised to discover its opponents for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers during the draw conducted by CAF this Tuesday.
The draw will determine the groups and matchups for the qualifiers, which are crucial for Rwanda's journey towards competing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that the official draw for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers will take place on Tuesday, 19 May in Cairo, Egypt, with 48 nations set to be drawn into 12 groups of four teams each.
Rwanda has been placed in Pot 3 ahead of the draw, meaning Amavubi could face some of the continent’s football heavyweights on the road to the continental showpiece that will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
According to CAF, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the tournament, while groups containing one of the three host nations will produce only one additional qualified team since the hosts automatically qualify.
The qualification matches will be played across FIFA international windows between September 2026 and March 2027.
