As preparations for the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 continue, referees and participating clubs today took part in comprehensive training sessions on the latest IFAB Laws of the Game modifications and amendments.

The day’s activities began with a practical on-field session at the FERWAFA Training Ground, where match officials conducted live exercises using players to simulate real match situations. The session focused on the application of the latest IFAB Law modifications, positioning, communication, and decision-making in various game scenarios, enabling referees to translate theory into effective match management.

Later in the day, the refereeing instructors conducted an educational workshop at the Grand Legacy Hotel for three participating clubs:

- APR FC (Rwanda)

- Gor Mahia FC (Kenya)

- Garde Républicaine FC (Djibouti)

Each club attended with its full technical staff and entire playing squad, demonstrating their commitment to understanding the latest changes to the Laws of the Game ahead of the tournament.

The interactive sessions covered the most recent IFAB Law modifications, clarifications, and interpretations that will be applied during the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026. Players and coaches were given the opportunity to engage directly with the refereeing instructors, ask questions, and receive detailed explanations on how the updated provisions will be interpreted during matches.

The remaining participating teams will also have the opportunity to attend similar workshops before the tournament kicks off, ensuring that all clubs are fully acquainted with the latest IFAB Laws of the Game and their application throughout the competition.

The initiative forms part of CECAFA’s efforts to promote consistency in officiating and to equip both match officials and participating teams with a shared understanding of the Laws of the Game ahead of the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026.
