Rwanda will host the CAF Women’s Champions League - CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers from 21 to 30 August 2026, with Rwanda Women’s Super League 2025/26 champions Rayon Sports WFC representing the country and targeting the zonal title and qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
Rayon Sports have already started preparations, with the team camping and training at the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility ahead of the competition.
The Rwandan champions return to the qualifiers with unfinished business after reaching last season’s final in Nairobi, Kenya, where they suffered a 1–0 defeat to Tanzania’s JKT Queens, missing out on CECAFA’s sole qualification spot for the continental finals.
Rayon Sports head coach Claude RWAKA believes the team is better prepared this season following the arrival of four new players, including experienced internationals.
“We reached the final last season. We know where we fell short. We strengthened our squad by adding four experienced players who have represented their national teams. They are good reinforcements. With the support of our fans, we are trying to make Rwandans happy,” Rwaka said.
The new signings include Rwanda internationals Lydia UZAYISENGA, former Police FC captain, and ISHIMWE MIZERO Evelyn, former Kamonyi FC captain. The team has also added Zaina NAMULEME, captain of Uganda’s Crested Cranes, from Kenya Police WFC, and Kenyan goalkeeper Valentine KHWAKA from Mathare United.
With home advantage and a strengthened squad, Rayon Sports are aiming to go one step further and secure CECAFA’s ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
