Capacity building workshop for FERWAFA Match Commissioners/Assessors underway

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) today, September 16, 2026, commenced a three-day capacity building workshop for 64 Match Commissioners and Assessors operating in Rwanda. The workshop will run until from September 18, 2026.

The workshop is designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in key areas related to match officiating, match management and reporting.

Among the main topics covered are the Laws of the Game from the refereeing perspective, recent changes and modifications to the Laws of the Game, referee assessment and evaluation, and the use of the FCMS reporting system for preparing and submitting match reports.

The participants are also being equipped with knowledge on match-day medical and safety requirements, including the essential facilities and equipment that must be available in ambulances at football venues. They are further reviewing stadium security and safety requirements, particularly from the perspective of their responsibilities as Match Commissioners during matches.

The sessions are being delivered by FERWAFA instructors Hakizimana Ambroise, Sekamana Abdoul khaliq and Munyemana Hudu, alongside representatives from FERWAFA’s Competitions and Club Licensing departments and members of the Federation’s Medical Commission.

The three-day programme aims to enhance the capacity of Match Commissioners and Assessors to effectively monitor match-day operations, assess refereeing performances, ensure compliance with safety and medical requirements, and provide accurate reports through the FCMS system.
