Players called up to Rwanda’s Senior National Team, Amavubi, and the U-23 National Team have joined residential camp to begin intensive preparations ahead of their upcoming CAF AFCON Qualifiers.

The camp opened today with locally based players reporting first. The teams will train together until 21 September 2026, after which their preparations will continue separately as they focus on their respective competitions.

Amavubi Target AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

The senior national team is preparing for two crucial AFCON 2027 qualifying matches.

Amavubi will host Liberia in Kigali on 25th September 2026 at Amahoro Stadium, before travelling to Praia to face Cape Verde on 29th September 2026.

The training camp will provide the technical staff with an opportunity to assess the players, strengthen team cohesion and fine-tune preparations ahead of the two fixtures.

U-23 Team Set for Sudan Test

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s U-23 side is also entering an important period of preparation for the U-23 AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

The Amavubi U-23 will face Sudan in Kigali on 30th September 2026 at Kigali Pele Stadium, before travelling to Juba, South Sudan for the return leg on 6th October 2026.

With both teams facing demanding fixtures, the joint opening of the camp marks the beginning of an important preparation period as Rwanda’s national teams look to approach their respective African qualifiers with focus, discipline and determination.
