Rwanda’s Senior and U23 National Teams have officially begun preparations for their respective Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixtures, with both teams reporting to camp today, Thursday, 5 November 2026.

The Amavubi Senior Team, coached by Stephen Constantine, is preparing for a double-header against Mali in Group K of the CAF AFCON 2027 Qualifiers. Rwanda will play the first leg on 13 November in Bamako before hosting Mali in the return leg on 17 November at Amahoro Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Amavubi U23, under Head Coach Eric Nshimiyimana, are preparing for the second round of the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 AFCON Qualifiers against Cameroon, having progressed after eliminating Sudan 4-1 on aggregate in the previous round.
Both teams held their first training session on Thursday afternoon at the FERWAFA Technical Centre, with the session focusing primarily on mobility exercises under the guidance of fitness coach Mr. Serge Mwambali, as the players begin building up their physical readiness.
As part of the preparations, both squads will share approximately four joint training sessions, providing an opportunity to promote teamwork, exchange experience and strengthen the collective national-team spirit.
Both teams will continue their preparations in Kigali ahead of these crucial continental assignments.
