The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) match officials underwent went a one-day intensive refresher course over the weekend aimed at fine-tuning their knowledge of the laws of the game ahead of the start of the return leg of the Rwanda Premier League.
The program combined physical assessments and theoretical instruction, beginning with a fitness test at Pele Stadium before moving to the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility in Remera for classroom sessions. The theoretical component focused on the Laws of the Game and modern refereeing standards, ensuring officials are aligned with current international best practices.
A total of 45 referees among them, 40 men and 5 women, participated in the training. All officials successfully passed the fitness test, demonstrating full physical readiness to officiate the return phase with competence and impartiality.
Addressing the participants, Louis HAKIZIMANA, the FERWAFA referees Commissioner, urged referees to maintain high standards throughout the return phase of the Rwanda Premier League. He emphasized discipline, consistency, and professionalism, calling on the officials to serve as role models for referees in lower divisions.
He further reiterated that FERWAFA’s leadership remains firmly committed to striving for excellence across all areas of football development, with refereeing as a cornerstone of fair competition.
